New Zealand Passport from South Africa: travel-document crop only
Scope lock: this URL is for New Zealand Passport travel-document photos only — licence and national-ID copy live on their own pages.
Living in South Africa does not change the New Zealand photo standard for New Zealand Passport. Use this page when the application names New Zealand sizes, not a local ICA or Home Affairs crop.
This article is scoped to New Zealand Passport as a New Zealand travel / passport photo (35 × 45 mm, Light grey). Driving-licence and national-ID wording is not pasted here.
Cross-border passport work: your UI market is South Africa, but the photo law is New Zealand for New Zealand Passport. Local booth habits do not travel.
Official framing for New Zealand Passport on FotoPass is 35 × 45 mm with a Light grey background. Treat any other country’s booth print as a different template.
Home-market tip: South Africa passport photos are commonly about 35 × 45 mm. New Zealand Passport instead demands 35 × 45 mm — different aspect ratio, not a simple resize.
From South Africa: unfiltered selfie → lock New Zealand Passport → upload → use the export for New Zealand passport portals or embassy packets — never a recycled licence file.
Why South Africa booth prints fail New Zealand passport checks
A 35 × 45 mm South Africa print is not a legal 35 × 45 mm passport crop. Phone edge-trims break head ratios that border systems measure.
Cream or grey South Africa studio paper can also fail when New Zealand Passport requires Light grey.
Embassy / online passport filing from South Africa
Submit the newest New Zealand Passport export — not last year’s holiday portrait — whether you file online or attend a New Zealand mission serving South Africa.
Compress for portal KB limits only after the biometric passport crop is set.
Do not switch away from New Zealand Passport
Market chrome may say South Africa, but the selector must stay on this passport product. Changing to a local licence silently changes millimetres.
New Zealand passport photo — what people search
This page is scoped to New Zealand Passport only: 35 × 45 mm on a Light grey background. Licence or national-ID crops belong on their own document pages.
Queries such as “New Zealand passport photo size” and “biometric passport photo” should land here — not on a driving-licence tool with a coincidentally similar millimetre size.
