New Zealand Passport travel-document photo guide (New Zealand)
Scope lock: this URL is for New Zealand Passport travel-document photos only — licence and national-ID copy live on their own pages.
This New Zealand page manufactures a passport / travel-document headshot for New Zealand Passport — border and renewal systems, not a driving-licence desk.
This article is scoped to New Zealand Passport as a New Zealand travel / passport photo (35 × 45 mm, Light grey). Driving-licence and national-ID wording is not pasted here.
Official framing for New Zealand Passport on FotoPass is 35 × 45 mm with a Light grey background. Treat any other country’s booth print as a different template.
Shoot facing a window or soft lamp, shoulders square, no beauty filters. Upload here so FotoPass locks the biometric frame for 35 × 45 mm on Light grey used by New Zealand passport processors.
If an older foreign crop or licence JPEG failed at renewal, do not stretch it into a travel document. Start with New Zealand Passport selected and a fresh selfie.
Border & passport-office checks for New Zealand Passport
New Zealand passport reviewers flag wrong head height, eye line, patterned walls, wide smiles and glare. Keep a plain Light grey field behind you.
Civilian clothes only — uniforms and camouflage are classic travel-document refusals. Religious coverings that show the full face are usually fine when New Zealand policy allows them.
Passport renewal upload vs print pack
Online passport renewals want a sharp JPEG near the pixels implied by 35 × 45 mm. Paper packets may still need a physical 35 × 45 mm print — finish the biometric crop first, then choose output.
Reread the live New Zealand passport form the day you file; kilobyte caps change more often than the print millimetres.
New Zealand passport photo — what people search
