India Passport from South Africa: travel-document crop only
Scope lock: this URL is for India Passport travel-document photos only — licence and national-ID copy live on their own pages.
Living in South Africa does not change the India photo standard for India Passport. Use this page when the application names India sizes, not a local ICA or Home Affairs crop.
This article is scoped to India Passport as a India travel / passport photo (35 × 35 mm, White). Driving-licence and national-ID wording is not pasted here.
Cross-border passport work: your UI market is South Africa, but the photo law is India for India Passport. Local booth habits do not travel.
Official framing for India Passport on FotoPass is 35 × 35 mm with a White background. Treat any other country’s booth print as a different template.
Home-market tip: South Africa passport photos are commonly about 35 × 45 mm. India Passport instead demands 35 × 35 mm — different aspect ratio, not a simple resize.
From South Africa: unfiltered selfie → lock India Passport → upload → use the export for India passport portals or embassy packets — never a recycled licence file.
Why South Africa booth prints fail India passport checks
A 35 × 45 mm South Africa print is not a legal 35 × 35 mm passport crop. Phone edge-trims break head ratios that border systems measure.
Cream or grey South Africa studio paper can also fail when India Passport requires White.
Embassy / online passport filing from South Africa
Submit the newest India Passport export — not last year’s holiday portrait — whether you file online or attend a India mission serving South Africa.
Compress for portal KB limits only after the biometric passport crop is set.
Do not switch away from India Passport
Market chrome may say South Africa, but the selector must stay on this passport product. Changing to a local licence silently changes millimetres.
India passport photo — what people search
This page is scoped to India Passport only: 35 × 35 mm on a White background. Licence or national-ID crops belong on their own document pages.
Queries such as “India passport photo size” and “biometric passport photo” should land here — not on a driving-licence tool with a coincidentally similar millimetre size.
India passport note
Passport Seva style uploads are picky about pixels and background. India Passport exports 35 × 35 mm / White — convert HEIC to JPEG before portal upload.
South Africa → India passport gate
- Form asks for India Passport (passport / travel)

- Market South Africa / law India
South Africa-based travellers clear India Passport checks when every passport line above is true.
