PhotoAiD makes you follow the rules. FotoPass AI fixes them.
PhotoAiD wants the front camera 40–50 cm away and your head perfectly straight. With FotoPass any selfie works: AI aligns the face, scale, lighting and official background.

The difference is the AI
No distance ritual
Other sites tell you to hold the front camera 40–50 cm from your face. We don’t. If the face is small or large, AI scales it to the biometric ratio.
No pinning your face to the screen
Stay in the oval, don’t tilt, line up the shoulders. FotoPass turns a tilted or off-center shot into a straight front pose — without changing who you are.
A messy shot isn’t an automatic fail
Others check and say “retake”. We replace the background, crop and even out the light so you are not building a home studio.

PhotoAiD: you stage the shot
Their own site tells you to keep the front camera 40–50 cm from your face and hold head and body straight. AI then crops and removes the background — you still have to build the biometric composition. Premium is typically around $13.95.
About this comparison
Do I really not need to measure the distance?
A sharp photo where the face is visible is enough. FotoPass AI sets head height and crop to your document’s ratio. Completely blurry, very dark, or face-covering shots will fail here the same as anywhere else.
Don’t the other sites use AI too?
Yes — mostly crop, resize and background. The difference: they still want you to capture inside their rules. FotoPass converts an existing selfie into biometric composition, so you don’t stay in an oval or measure 50 cm.
Are the prices current?
Competitor prices are approximate figures from public plans and can change. FotoPass digital download is $2.99.
