Japan Passport from New Zealand: travel-document crop only
Scope lock: this URL is for Japan Passport travel-document photos only — licence and national-ID copy live on their own pages.
Preparing a Japan Passport from New Zealand? Keep the document selector on this US/foreign standard — local NZ passport guidance is a separate checklist.
This article is scoped to Japan Passport as a Japan travel / passport photo (45 × 45 mm, White). Driving-licence and national-ID wording is not pasted here.
Cross-border passport work: your UI market is New Zealand, but the photo law is Japan for Japan Passport. Local booth habits do not travel.
Official framing for Japan Passport on FotoPass is 45 × 45 mm with a White background. Treat any other country’s booth print as a different template.
Home-market tip: New Zealand passport photos are commonly about 35 × 45 mm. Japan Passport instead demands 45 × 45 mm — different aspect ratio, not a simple resize.
From New Zealand: unfiltered selfie → lock Japan Passport → upload → use the export for Japan passport portals or embassy packets — never a recycled licence file.
Why New Zealand booth prints fail Japan passport checks
A 35 × 45 mm New Zealand print is not a legal 45 × 45 mm passport crop. Phone edge-trims break head ratios that border systems measure.
Cream or grey New Zealand studio paper can also fail when Japan Passport requires White.
Embassy / online passport filing from New Zealand
Submit the newest Japan Passport export — not last year’s holiday portrait — whether you file online or attend a Japan mission serving New Zealand.
Compress for portal KB limits only after the biometric passport crop is set.
Do not switch away from Japan Passport
Market chrome may say New Zealand, but the selector must stay on this passport product. Changing to a local licence silently changes millimetres.
Japan passport photo — what people search
This page is scoped to Japan Passport only: 45 × 45 mm on a White background. Licence or national-ID crops belong on their own document pages.
Queries such as “Japan passport photo size” and “biometric passport photo” should land here — not on a driving-licence tool with a coincidentally similar millimetre size.
Japan passport note
Japan passport photos follow a strict portrait ratio. This page sets Japan Passport to 45 × 45 mm / White.
