Scope lock: this URL is for South Africa Passport travel-document photos only — licence and national-ID copy live on their own pages.
Preparing a South Africa Passport from New Zealand? Keep the document selector on this US/foreign standard — local NZ passport guidance is a separate checklist.
This article is scoped to South Africa Passport as a South Africa travel / passport photo (35 × 45 mm, Light grey). Driving-licence and national-ID wording is not pasted here.
Cross-border passport work: your UI market is New Zealand, but the photo law is South Africa for South Africa Passport. Local booth habits do not travel.
Official framing for South Africa Passport on FotoPass is 35 × 45 mm with a Light grey background. Treat any other country’s booth print as a different template.
Home-market tip: New Zealand passport photos are commonly about 35 × 45 mm. South Africa Passport instead demands 35 × 45 mm — different aspect ratio, not a simple resize.
From New Zealand: unfiltered selfie → lock South Africa Passport → upload → use the export for South Africa passport portals or embassy packets — never a recycled licence file.
Why New Zealand booth prints fail South Africa passport checks
A 35 × 45 mm New Zealand print is not a legal 35 × 45 mm passport crop. Phone edge-trims break head ratios that border systems measure.
Cream or grey New Zealand studio paper can also fail when South Africa Passport requires Light grey.
Embassy / online passport filing from New Zealand
Submit the newest South Africa Passport export — not last year’s holiday portrait — whether you file online or attend a South Africa mission serving New Zealand.
Compress for portal KB limits only after the biometric passport crop is set.
Do not switch away from South Africa Passport
Market chrome may say New Zealand, but the selector must stay on this passport product. Changing to a local licence silently changes millimetres.
