Stamp Size Photo: Exact Size in CM and How to Make One Online
Stamp size is usually **2.0 × 2.5 cm** — not passport size. Use this checklist for PAN, forms and apps that still ask for a stamp photo.
Stamp size ≠ passport size
A stamp size photo is a tiny ID headshot, most often 2 cm × 2.5 cm (20 × 25 mm). Indian passport digital uploads and US 2×2 prints are different jobs. Mixing them up is the #1 DIY failure.
Use our AI-powered India Passport Photo Tool to auto-crop your image in 3 seconds.
If the form says “stamp size photograph,” confirm the millimetres — some offices now want a soft copy at a stated pixel size instead of a cut print.

Where stamp size is still requested
Older paper forms, some licence / PAN-style workflows, school and job applications, and local office checklists. Read the form: one line may say passport size, another stamp size.
If you need both stamp and passport the same week, prepare two separate files.

Rules that still matter
Face centred, plain light background, neutral expression, eyes open, sharp focus — heavy WhatsApp compression ruins tiny prints. Colour photo unless the form says otherwise.
Shoulders visible enough for a small crop; hair must not cover the face.
How to make one at home + FotoPass tip
- 1
Front selfie in soft daylight.
- 2
Crop so the head fills most of a 2:2.5 rectangle.
- 3
Place several copies on a 4×6 / 10×15 sheet if you need prints.
- 4
Cut carefully — a 1 mm error is huge at this scale.
If you also need a passport photo the same week, export it separately with the FotoPass tool — do not reuse the stamp JPEG.
