Australian residents: building a France Passport the right way
Scope lock: this URL is for France Passport travel-document photos only — licence and national-ID copy live on their own pages.
From Australia, applicants often need a France Passport for travel document renewals filed online or through a US mission. An Australian Passport Office crop will not satisfy France reviewers if the millimetre size differs.
This article is scoped to France Passport as a France travel / passport photo (35 × 45 mm, Light grey). Driving-licence and national-ID wording is not pasted here.
The Australian Passport Office teaches a 35 × 45 mm habit. France Passport breaks that habit on purpose: target 35 × 45 mm and Light grey every time.
Official framing for France Passport on FotoPass is 35 × 45 mm with a Light grey background. Treat any other country’s booth print as a different template.
From Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or regional AU: shoot a clean selfie indoors, lock France Passport in the selector, upload, and keep the export for France online renewal or a France mission appointment in Australia.
Passport Office size ≠ France Passport size
Do not “letterbox” an AU 35 × 45 mm file into another shape — automated France passport checks still see wrong head ratios.
Cream or pale-grey AU studio papers can also fail France Passport if the portal expects pure Light grey.
Timezone & filing tips for AU applicants of France Passport
Generate the passport photo the same week you submit; France portals dislike outdated likeness more than travellers expect.
If you print locally in Australia, ask for an exact 35 × 45 mm cut — not “passport photo” as a generic shop code.
France passport photo — what people search
This page is scoped to France Passport only: 35 × 45 mm on a Light grey background. Licence or national-ID crops belong on their own document pages.
Queries such as “France passport photo size” and “biometric passport photo” should land here — not on a driving-licence tool with a coincidentally similar millimetre size.
France passport note
ANTS / France e-photo rules usually expect 35 × 45 mm. France Passport uses 35 × 45 mm / Light grey.
Australia → France passport acceptance gate
- Document = France Passport (France law)
- Size 35 × 45 mm (not AU 35 × 45 mm)
- Background Light grey
- No reused Australian Passport Office JPEG
- Even daylight; no beach-glare selfies
- Market shows Australia, rules stay France
AU market branding on FotoPass only localises chrome — France Passport still ships France millimetres.
