Australian residents: building a China Passport the right way
Scope lock: this URL is for China Passport travel-document photos only — licence and national-ID copy live on their own pages.
From Australia, applicants often need a China Passport for travel document renewals filed online or through a US mission. An Australian Passport Office crop will not satisfy China reviewers if the millimetre size differs.
This article is scoped to China Passport as a China travel / passport photo (33 × 48 mm, White). Driving-licence and national-ID wording is not pasted here.
The Australian Passport Office teaches a 35 × 45 mm habit. China Passport breaks that habit on purpose: target 33 × 48 mm and White every time.
Official framing for China Passport on FotoPass is 33 × 48 mm with a White background. Treat any other country’s booth print as a different template.
From Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or regional AU: shoot a clean selfie indoors, lock China Passport in the selector, upload, and keep the export for China online renewal or a China mission appointment in Australia.
Passport Office size ≠ China Passport size
Do not “letterbox” an AU 35 × 45 mm file into another shape — automated China passport checks still see wrong head ratios.
Cream or pale-grey AU studio papers can also fail China Passport if the portal expects pure White.
Timezone & filing tips for AU applicants of China Passport
Generate the passport photo the same week you submit; China portals dislike outdated likeness more than travellers expect.
If you print locally in Australia, ask for an exact 33 × 48 mm cut — not “passport photo” as a generic shop code.
China passport photo — what people search
This page is scoped to China Passport only: 33 × 48 mm on a White background. Licence or national-ID crops belong on their own document pages.
Queries such as “China passport photo size” and “biometric passport photo” should land here — not on a driving-licence tool with a coincidentally similar millimetre size.
China passport note
Mainland passport guidance often differs from visa photos. Keep China Passport at 33 × 48 mm / White.
Australia → China passport acceptance gate
- Document = China Passport (China law)
- Size 33 × 48 mm (not AU 35 × 45 mm)
- Background White
- No reused Australian Passport Office JPEG
- Even daylight; no beach-glare selfies
- Market shows Australia, rules stay China
AU market branding on FotoPass only localises chrome — China Passport still ships China millimetres.
