DV Lottery photo requirements 2026: 600×600 and 240 KB
E-DV upload needs a **square JPEG**, usually **600×600–1200×1200 px**, **≤240 KB**. A non-compliant photo can void the entry.
E-DV technical specs
For the Diversity Visa (DV) / Green Card Lottery online entry the photo must be square, JPEG, typically 600×600 to 1200×1200 px, and 240 KB or smaller. A non-1:1 aspect ratio fails the portal.
Use our AI-powered United States Passport Photo Tool to auto-crop your image in 3 seconds.
Expect 24-bit colour / sRGB. If you scan an older print, use a high-quality scan plus a correct square crop — never a blurry phone screenshot.

Content rules (disqualification risk)
Last-6-months appearance, white / off-white background, neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open, no glasses (except rare medical exceptions). Head coverings only for daily religious practice with the full face visible.
A bad photo is not just “re-upload later” — the entry can be disqualified. Every family member needs a separate, current photo.

Prints after selection
After an E-DV win, the consular interview usually needs two identical 2×2 inch prints. The digital entry file and the print packet should show the same face.
Prepare the file before DV season (typically autumn); last-day KB / pixel panic raises refusal risk.
